Johan Cruyff Foundation and Action opened Cruyff Court Pep Guardiola

• Cruyff Court Pep Guardiola in Manresa has been officially opened
• This Cruyff Court is created in partnership with Action and is the fourth court developed together and the first in Catalonia
• Football icon and Cruyff Foundation ambassador Pep Guardiola and Johan Cruyff’s daughter and president of the Cruyff Foundation in Spain, Susila Cruyff, opened Cruyff Court Pep Guardiola together with local children from the neighbourhood.

Manresa (Barcelona), 6 June, 2026. To mark the occasion, football icon and Cruyff Foundation ambassador Pep Guardiola returned to the neighbourhood in Manresa where he grew up, to celebrate the opening of the new Cruyff Court Pep Guardiola together with local children.

All pupils from the school were present to celebrate the opening and mark this special moment for the local community.

Pep Guardiola: “I am very happy to have a Cruyff Court at the school I went to as a child. It is essential that the Johan Cruyff Foundation continues to promote social projects that foster values such as cohesion and social inclusion for children and young people through sport. I am very proud to be part of the social legacy of Johan Cruyff and to be able to continue what Johan started.”

Partnership
Cruyff Court Pep Guardiola is created together with the municipality of Manresa and with Action. Since 2022, Action and the Cruyff Foundation have been working together to encourage children to be active through sport by supporting various sports initiatives and developing Cruyff Courts across Europe.

As part of the Action Sustainability Programme, Action wants to contribute to the communities where it operates with a focus on children as they are the future and children deserve a safe and healthy start in life.

Following the opening of the first Cruyff Court in Paris and two courts in the Netherlands, this marks the fourth court opening within our partnership – and our first in Catalonia. Located close to the Action store in Sant Fruitós de Bages, it is another step in our shared ambition to get children moving. More courts will follow in the coming years in Spain, including in Terrassa, as well as in other countries where Action operates, such as Germany, the Netherlands and France.

Cruyff Court Pep Guardiola is located on the grounds of La Salle school, which has more than 800 pupils. The court will be used by the school and is also open to children from the neighbourhood.

Like all Cruyff Courts in Spain, Cruyff Court Pep Guardiola is linked to two youth projects that organise sports activities on the court throughout the year.

The ‘Salid y disfrutad 6vs6’ school tournament, named after one of Johan Cruyff’s famous sayings, brings together children aged 10 to 12. In addition, Heroes of the Cruyff Courts supports young people aged 12 to 25 in becoming role models within their communities. Guided by certified Johan Cruyff Foundation coaches, participants develop life skills and organise their own community sports event on the Cruyff Court.

This new space will be very important for the school. In addition to offering a new space to play and do physical activity for all students, it will help us continue to educate in values ​​that we consider essential: respect, teamwork, responsibility and healthy habits.”
