Action opens its 500th store in Germany

On September 21, 2023, the non-food discounter Action celebrates the opening of its 500th store in Germany. With this milestone, the company, which has been present in Germany since 2009, marks a significant achievement in its expansive success story.

The 500th store will open its doors on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Aachener Straße 70, 40223 Düsseldorf. Spanning 780 square meters, Action offers a constantly changing range of more than 6,000 items in 14 product categories at the lowest prices, from everyday items such as cleaning products and personal care items to products that make life a little more pleasant and inspire home improvement. The store is open from Monday to Saturday from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

The opening underscores Action’s exceptional success in Germany. “500 stores are a significant milestone for us, but by no means the end. We believe that the German market has tremendous potential for many more locations, and we want to offer the Action shopping experience to even more people,” says Heiko Großner, Managing Director of Action Germany. The Düsseldorf store is already the third store in the state capital and the 160th in North Rhine-Westphalia. However, the company is also active in all other federal states. “We want to continue to expand strongly in the future, especially in cities and regions where we have been less present so far,” adds Großner.

Employer for over 11,000 people

The first German store was opened in Schüttorf in 2009. Since then, the company has developed significantly in this country. Action currently employs over 11,000 employees in Germany. “Action has established itself as an important employer and provides many people with professional prospects. The fact that the opening of our 500th store falls on Düsseldorf is particularly pleasing to me, as the city is the location of the German headquarters. We employ more than 170 people there alone. In total, it’s over 11,000 across Germany,” says Großner, adding, “Regardless of education and background, everyone has the opportunity to work at Action. We create new jobs and promote the continuous development and career opportunities of our employees. They are the backbone of Action and the key to our success.” With each opening, Action creates around 20 new jobs. Information about job openings can be found at https://de.action.jobs/.
