Action opens second permanent distribution center in Italy
- Action’s 19h DC in Europe measures 66873 square meters and will be able to supply up to 270 stores in Italy.
- In the long run, the DC will create around 400 jobs in the region.
- It operates gas-free, based on the latest technological construction requirements
Ferentino, 19 June, 2026 – Action, the non-food discounter, opens its second permanent distribution center (DC) in Italy today, located in Ferentino, in Frosinone. With this 19th distribution center in Europe, Action continues to invest in the development of its supply chain in Italy. Since opening its first stores in Italy on 22 April 2021, in Vanzaghello and Turin, Action has 235 stores in Italy today, while employing 5000 people.
“We are very happy to open our second Action owned distribution centre in Ferentino, almost five and a half years after introducing our first store in Italy. Customers have welcomed us warmly, and we are happy that we can bring the Action formula closer to them” explains Maurizio Oprandi, General Manager of Action in Italy. “Our success is built on our strong formula and the commitment and engagement of our teams, which we are very proud of.”
A sustainable DC
The gas-free distribution center Ferentino has been designed to achieve the BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ rating, which has been submitted for certification. The facility reflects Action’s strong commitment to sustainable building practices, combining high environmental performance with efficient and functional design. Energy-efficient solutions include solar panels for heating water, PV-panels for electricity generation, intelligent energy and water meters, LED lighting in the building and outside areas and charging stations for electric cars.
“DC Ferentino offers us a great central location for the distribution of Action’s growing store network in the center and the south of Italy” explains Jens Burgers, Director of Supply Chain of Action. “I am also very proud this distribution center continues to set an example in terms of sustainability. Every aspect of the facility, from construction materials to installed equipment, has been sustainable designed for ecological and environmentally friendly operations.”

At the Ferentino DC, Action partners with GXO Logistics, Inc. (NYSE: GXO), as its logistics Service provider with approximately 200 employees. “It is a source of pride for GXO to support Action in this important phase of growth in Italy,” explains Alessandro Renzo, Managing Director of GXO in Italy. “Reaching this milestone is the result of strong cross-functional collaboration and careful coordination across all teams involved. It builds on the experience gained with Action in France and represents an important step in supporting Action’s continued expansion.”
