Action opens first store in Switzerland in Bachenbülach
Basel, 5 April 2025 – Action, the non-food discounter, is opening its first store in Switzerland today in Bachenbülach in the canton of Zürich. The second Action store will follow on 24 April in Martigny in French-speaking Switzerland. Switzerland is the thirteenth country in which Action operates.
From today, residents of Bachenbülach and other visitors can enjoy the Action Formula: 6,000 good-quality and increasingly sustainable products in 14 categories (ranging from Laundry & Cleaning and Personal Care to Toys & Entertainment, Do-It-Yourself or Garden & Outdoor) at the lowest price. Action introduces 150 new products every week, ensuring a relevant assortment. The price of 1,500 Action products is less than CHF 2.
Hajir Hajji, CEO of Action, explains: “We are very excited to open our first Swiss store today and bring the Action formula to Switzerland. Our concept of good-quality products at the lowest price is already familiar to many customers. Several of them have been shopping in our stores in neighbouring countries for quite some time. From now on, it will be even easier to visit us, as we plan to bring Action to all regions of Switzerland.”

All Action’s private and white label products use 100% certified sustainably sourced cotton, timber and cocoa. The palm oil in Action’s own food & drink products and candles is 100% certified sustainable. Action has set science-based near-term targets for greenhouse gas reduction that are approved by the Science Based Targets initiative. Action stores are heated without gas and all stores, offices and distribution centres use 100% LED lighting.
The new Action store in Bachenbülach is spacious and easily accessible, measuring over 1,150 square meters. The store is located at Parkallee, Grabenstrasse 2, and is open Monday to Saturday from 08:00 to 20:00. The store is managed by a team of 15 colleagues.
To celebrate the first Action store in Switzerland, customers visiting the store in Bachenbülach have the chance to win a prize by spinning a wheel of fortune on the opening day.
