Action voted Favourite French Retailer for 2025

Paris, April 3rd, 2025 – For the third year in a row, Action, the non-food discounter, is elected Favourite French Retailer by the consulting agency EY-Parthenon as part of their annual ” Favourite French Retailer” study.

In addition to this first place, Action is also the winner in the “Daily products” category, a confirmation of Action’s strong position in the daily life of French people, who enjoy the Action formula: a selection of 6,000 good quality and increasingly sustainable products in 14 categories (ranging from toys and crafts to household products, and from gardening to DIY and food) at the lowest price. Action introduces 150 new products weekly, ensuring a relevant assortment catering to various needs and preferences.

“Our French customers embrace shopping at Action. They come to our stores to buy good-quality daily necessities and inspirational products that make everyday life easier or more enjoyable, all at the lowest price” states Wouter De Backer, General Manager of Action in France. “We are honored to get this prestigious distinction for the third time in a row and want to thank everyone who contributed to such an achievement: our loyal customers, our store employees, and our suppliers.”

Good quality at the lowest prices, increasingly sustainable

Action is continuously investing in product quality and sustainability and maintains clear supplier and sourcing standards with its Ethical Sourcing Policy (ESP). All Action-branded and white-label cotton products are for instance sustainably sourced – 99% under the Better Cotton programme with the remaining 1% sourced as organic cotton. In addition, 100% of the timber used in private and white label products are sourced sustainably (either FSC or PEFC certified). All Action chocolate has been Fairtrade certified since 2022, and has from 2025 onwards expanded to a commitment to Fairtrade Living Income. All palm oil used in Action food & drink and candles is now certified sustainable under RSPO or a similar organisation.

Action has also set science-based near-term targets for greenhouse gas reduction that are approved by the Science Based Targets initiative. The company aims to reduce the emissions from its own operations (scope1 and 2) by 75% by 2030 compared to base-year 2021. By year-end 2024, Action reduced 51% already through initiatives such as eliminating gas connections from stores and transitioning to 90% renewable electricity across stores, distribution centres and offices.
